Who we are

Watch Pong is made by Bell Software, the independent app studio of Wesley Archbell in Australia. Bell Software is responsible for the app’s data practices described here.

Usage analytics

We use PostHog to understand how often the game is opened, which modes people play, whether rounds are completed, and whether features and purchases work as intended.

Depending on the app version, events can include app openings and lifecycle events; game starts, completions and exits; mode, difficulty, scores, returns, round duration and win/loss outcome; Daily Rally activity; theme changes and stats resets; and paywall, purchase and restore outcomes.

Events also include a randomly generated installation identifier, session or match identifiers, timestamps, app version, platform (iPhone or Watch), and technical information such as device model and operating-system version. These identifiers are not your Apple Account, name or email address, but can distinguish an installation over time. We therefore do not describe this data as completely anonymous.

We do not deliberately send your name, email, contacts, health information or payment-card details to PostHog. The app does not request location access. In the upcoming shared iPhone and Watch implementation, screen-view capture, session replay and GeoIP enrichment are disabled, and identified person profiles are not created. Service providers necessarily receive network information, including an IP address, when requests reach their servers.

Our configured PostHog Cloud service is hosted in the United States. PostHog processes analytics on our behalf under its service terms. See PostHog’s privacy policy for its processing and safeguards.

Your analytics choices

Analytics is enabled by default in the current implementation. In app versions with the privacy setting, open Settings and turn off Share anonymous analytics to stop future analytics capture on that device. Despite that setting’s label, the installation identifiers described above are pseudonymous rather than fully anonymous.

The preference is device-specific: turn it off separately on iPhone and Apple Watch. Disabling analytics does not prevent gameplay and does not delete events already sent. If an older app version has no analytics switch, contact us about your privacy choices.

Local progress and paired-device sync

The game stores preferences and progress locally, including match counts, wins, streaks, personal bests, daily goals, level progress and court choices.

In versions with the companion app, Apple’s WatchConnectivity transfers progress and the selected court theme between your iPhone and its paired Apple Watch. A randomly generated device identifier keeps each device’s progress separate while combining your totals. This is paired-device sync, not a Bell Software cloud account or public leaderboard.

Where available, Reset progress in Settings clears game stats and earned progress; the reset is applied to the other paired device when they sync. It does not cancel Pong Plus or delete previously transmitted analytics. Local app data can also be removed by deleting the app from your devices, although synced or restored data may return if another copy is retained.

Pong Plus and Apple purchases

In versions offering Pong Plus, Apple handles payment through the App Store. The app uses StoreKit to verify the product and purchase entitlement, including whether it has been revoked, and to restore access. We do not receive your payment-card details.

If analytics is enabled, we may send the product identifier and purchase, cancellation, pending, error or restore outcome to PostHog. We do not send the transaction’s payment information or your Apple Account details as analytics.

Retention, security and requests

Local progress is retained until reset or removed. Analytics is retained within our PostHog project according to its configured retention and deletion controls, and used to improve and troubleshoot the game. It is not sold or used to target advertising. Contact us for information about the retention that applies to your request.

Analytics requests use HTTPS. No system can be guaranteed completely secure. Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction or deletion of personal data, or to object to its processing. Contact us to make a request or raise a privacy concern. Because analytics is not linked to a name or game account, we may need additional information to locate an installation’s events; please do not send passwords or payment details.

Children’s privacy

No date of birth is requested, and Watch Pong does not use advertising tracking. Parents or guardians can disable analytics in versions with the privacy setting and contact us if they believe a child’s personal information has been provided. We will investigate and address the request.

Policy updates

We may update this policy as the game and its features change. The date above identifies the latest revision. This policy does not itself change the analytics settings or features in an installed app.
